Indian travellers could soon be offered more opportunities to holiday in Greece, following the signing of an “open skies” aviation agreement between the two countries.
Under the new arrangement, Indian airlines will be able to operate an unlimited number of flights to any destination in Greece. In return, Greek airlines will be permitted to fly to six Indian airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai.
“We have signed open skies with Greece. This will allow carriers from our country to launch any number of flights to any destination in Greece,” confirmed aviation secretary, RN Choubey.
No airlines currently fly direct between India and Greece, and Indian passengers have to transit in Abu Dhabi or Dubai in order to fly to Athens.
